Suppressive fire is important, and with most full auto rifles you can still fire semi. It's just more versatile. You can cover someone better when people hear auto fire and instinctively cover for longer and more cautiously. Plus, it's just fun. Why make the standard issue the M4 instead of an AR if it isn't at least somewhat useful in an engagement?
Yeah not saying it doesn't have its place. I just encounter a ton of people who think it's a lot more useful then it really is, but I shouldn't have just assumed you were one of them, sorry. And yeah it really is a ton of fun.
