Do these people not realize that when they say shit like this and then people are hit with an overdraft fee the next month they stop trusting anything coming from the dems? Good to learn sooner rather than later I guess. The resume padding is unreal and it makes talking to libs impossible.

Finally, Joe Biden is reducing the price floor on overdraft fees. Our long national nightmare is over.

    capped as low as $3

Weasel words. This is like when a furniture store says they have things marked down “as much as 75% off”; and when you go there barely anything is even discounted.

On thinking about this some more I really think this falls under the "truth-content is irrelevant" category. People aren't even supposed to remember this factoid about overdraft fees being capped. They're supposed to see it, think "good things are happening", then forget about the content that produced this thought. The thought is all that remains. If asked "what good things has biden done?" they are not expected to be able to reproduce this. This messaging is purely targeted at people who are not actually affected by overdraft fees, who can continue to go about their lives vaguely thinking overdraft fees have been capped and they did the poors a good turn, while people continue to be absolutely fucked by overdraft fees.

The Venn diagram of people who are likely to get hit by overdraft fees and people who follow George Takei on Mastodon has very little overlap.

In the modern world there is literally no reason to have a one year wait period for a new law or rule to take effect. Tell the banks they have two weeks to rewrite their fee policy to be in line with the new rules and that at midnight on day fifteen you're gonna start issuing fines.
