"Fanatic Libertarian Xenophile" is an unfortunate chain of words.

Stellaris used to have libertarian as the good ideology and authoritarian as the bad ideology, even though it made no sense and wasn’t associated with actual libertarianism at all

I think you may be confusing it with individualism-collectivism which used to be the old ethics but got replaced with egalitarian-authoritarian for current versions of the game

libertarian ethos in the screenshot is from a mod AFAIK

Which mod is this? Does it make stellaris politics better? I've always found the vanilla system kinda limiting.

I think it's just called Ethics and Civics, I've never used it tho so I genuinely have no idea

      "Fanatic Libertarian Xenophile"

I didn't know libertarians considered children to be aliens.

You're supposed to free the slaves, not blow them up

Heavily disagreed; "Give me freedom or give me death", slavery is a crime and the guilty must be punished.

The guilty are the slavers, though, not the people they enslaved.

When people say "give me liberty or give me death" they'd generally much prefer the former to the latter. Killing slavers is good, but when it reaches the point where you're willing to kill all the slaves too in the process, you've completely lost the plot.
