New Folding Ideas just dropped. Strap in for two hours twenty minutes of crypto explanation and dunking
the only way it could do that is convince no one to buy in from the outside
The inacessibility is a selling point; he sums it up quite succintly near the end: the entire web3 economy is an angry reaction to the contradictions caused by the 2008 crash. They've seen the devastating effects of a false economy, and instead of rejecting it, they've decided that they should be the first ones racing to wear the face-stomping boot this time round.
Bitcoin is the Captain Planet villain machine that generates money and pollution and nothing else
This is extremely good, even as someone fairly familiar with much of what is covered I got some new metaphors and concepts!
The thing that really coalesced in my head is how much of the crypto mindset is parallel with all the LessWrong techno-transcendentalism. Granted, there's definitely much overlap in these communities. The decentralization autonomous cult aspect of it is so very similar to Q shit. Much like a randomized NFT, all these belief models are self-similar with just a slightly relabeled deity-core. Whether is be Trump fighting the deepstate, simulation/basilisk fealty or some version of techno-libertarian optimism contained in the 'code is law' slogan. All of these share a blindness to the historical materialist reality while positing a magical solution for believers is just around the corner.
Also 'play to earn' is just such a :chefs-kiss: slogan for exploitative labor relations.
Rad didn't know he was popular here. Found him by accident and went through most the catalogue recently
I haven't been watching him for long but he's always seemed at least pretty left. What makes him a lib?
His wholesale denial of all AES projects as being anything beyond 'red fash'
He's a white dude with money living in the west. It'd be noteworthy if that wasn't his opinion. Not that that makes it better, but I'm certainly not surprised if that's the case.
Eh, not lib.
You, that is.
Some of those things he's saying are pretty lib, yeah. Or just plain confused.
Therefore you are Dan Olsen. Good video, seems like it took a shitload of work.
Then just like, don't watch anything. We literally live in lib world you take what you fucking can
I didn't tell anybody not to watch anything, I was just pointing out that he was a lib
edit: furthermore, I fully subscribe to the notion that there is no ethical consumption under capitalism. Watch what you want, I don't mean to suggest that anyone should be judged for watching Dan Olsen's stuff. Just be aware of what the creator's ideology is.
I don't wanna make it a whole thing but there isn't really a need to point out every liberal that gets posted, it's a good video and he goes almost full Parenti in parts . Telling everyone here he's a lib is either obvio to those who know his stuff already and will therefore watch it or disincentivize people to watch it cause it lib shit. You can just not say anything about the dude , people here are clever enough to sniff out Liberalism on their own.
Eh. I also think that everybody already knew that bitcoin and nft's are a grift.
Besides, calling him a lib gave me a serotonin hit.
For sure, but he does a damn good job with it. If anything it's a fun 2 hours.
Serotonin is bourgeois
Binged his videos a couple month ago. Something about his voice is soothing or something. Glad to see another and on a good topic.
I hope he did an interview with CoinDexter for insights on the crypto market :brace-cowboy:
