Yeah it's really fucking bad and it's just gonna get worse over the course of our lives. The amount of suffering that this world causes already is hard to comprehend and with climate change things are going to be horrific.

My faith in building a better world rests in the belief that most people aren't really fundamentally bad, even the ones who are passive bystanders to atrocities. The way people are now is inhuman and it's scary to live in a society full of them, but they wouldn't be this way if not for capitalism. I am trying to hold that faith. I want to make space for the depth of suffering in the world without losing hope in all of us as a whole.

I hate living right now. I especially hate living right now and being painfully aware of how fucked everything is. I know I've landed here because above all I wanted to help others, and I still do, but fuck, it sucks. Moving though the grief and the anger of witnessing this shit with a limited ability to affect change is an ongoing process. It's a necessary one if I want to stay human and stay hopeful for all of us.

I try to maintain the belief that most people are good, but I also think it’s rare for people to change their worldview. I think a lot of people will double down on their conservatism in the face of conditions worsening, I just hope it doesn’t affect too many people.

As it currently stands in the US, 30-40% of the population is unreachable and will actively fight any attempt to make things slightly better here. At least for the time being, hopefully that changes for the better. Feels like the right has been rising as of late, we’ll see how long that lasts.
