Ugh, I've already been feeling frustrated in general, why did I have to look at this.

The interview is admittedly terrible, but holy shit the comments are so rage inducing.

Like I said in the megathread, when the host tried to bait them into a gotcha over them being a dog walker I would have said, "so what? what's wrong with that? why do you hate working class people? I thought this channel was a break from liberal elitism but I guess I was wrong".

Yeah, they didn't do amazing. Particularly the point where the Fox news guy said "but You CHosE TO worK aNd CaN qUiT at ANY TIME". That's the perfect time to respond with "if I do I go starving and homeless, that's the fucking point", but they just... didn't.

Wouldn't matter, the angle the host wanted to work was that only MANLY work like welder or working on a factory floor is "real" work.

I think it would have helped. Retail is exactly the kind of job that capitalists are shitting their pants over not having enough employees. Think about the narrative of "I quit my shitty retail job to do something more fulfilling that requires less work", that's pretty representative of the movement.

Yeah but I mean the host is just going to say "get a REAL job, regardless" and hold it over your head that you're not an expert on "work" and should shut up.

“Like yours?” is the answer, but easier to say outside of stress situation

Yeah it's easy to say all this as outside observers, honestly I'd probably fold and just tell them to go fuck themselves, and they'd be like "oh ho ho so you admit you have no comeback! hmph 😤 "

"Sure I'm able to quit anytime I like, but let's consider then what my options would be: 1.) starvation 2.) homelessness 3.) prison, because we criminalize number 2. Get what I'm saying?"

Love when I get told "don't stereotype autistic people" as an autistic person speaking from experience.

Well, in this debacle specifically. But overall the mods are also on some "anti-tankie" bs.

I didn't think they did the absolute worst but it could have been much better. A lot of people are talking about how this person was cringe or did bad or whatever. I mean they didn't do great, I think the pressure got to them a bit.

But holy shit the news presenter is even more cringe. The bad talking points. The smugness from a guy who gets paid millions to shit on poor people. It's just so bad.

It's moot because boomers would never see it but I'd attack them on this. Call them a smug elitist liberal who gets off on pretending to be working class, much like the channel at large. Being called a liberal is one of the few things that destroys shameless chuds.

I thought the first bit they were talking about was pretty good, but they let themselves get dragged into talking about irrelevant shit by the Fox host, and avoiding those pitfalls is a media skill not everyone has. Ideally instead of talking about themselves they should have focused on being forced to work by the wage system and the massive inequality that's created by it.

Correct. This is because the mod is not familiar with debating people. It's a skill, controlling the conversation. The presenter has a lot of experience with it and the mod does not. They got steamrolled and didn't realize that this was adversarial. You can see it as they go on. They take the questions as authentic and allow the host to completely create the narrative he wants.

Unsurprisingly the thread on /c/the_dunk_tank is being ableist too.

Love it when "leftists" are ableist then double down when being called out on it.

Thing is tho, they did badly due to decision to go there, correct, but it’s not connected to their other differences (like not looking at the camera). Lol occupy got absolutely shit on through the 2012, and it was a lot of normies. going onto live shit-talking shows requires rare skills, which 99.9 percent of people simply don’t possess (yet).

Or anti-globalist protestors, or any green protest, news media will always do this, some dipshit in a suit will always find a victim to make fun of movements, why pay attention to what make them their victim?

But that’s unfeasible for mass politics, just assume hostile media (or better yet don’t care)
