It's nice to see Bayesian arguments used to refute the Bayesian arguments used by the cult itself, too.

Big Yud claiming to know "the secrets of the universe" makes him A FUCKING CULT LEADER. Full stop.

Yes. This is directly related. The creepy weeb that calls himself "Roko" is in the inner circle of Big Yud's cult.

Something that helps me when I get too obsessed with a philosopher or a philosophical idea is to normalize them. The point of the below thoughts is to embrace the idea that no one has the secrets to the universe.

    ....what about our boi karl

Nothing. It's that there's people who call themselves rationalists who say things like we should bring back slavery because of some extremely tenuous "utilitarianism" argument, and argu that they are the only objective thinkers. It's basically a mixture of reddit atheists and Elon musk fanboys.

"Rationalism" as a self labeled movement is what is wrong. It claims to be based in rational thinking when it's actually based on Harry Potter fanfiction and the ego trip of said Harry Potter fanfiction's author and all of his personal biases. It isn't rational, but it calls itself "rationalism" and it's effective enough that random strangers can assume that criticism of "rationalism" is a criticism of being rational.

I can try to link a very short summary.

There's so much to it, and this may seem a silly place to start, but it is truly a cult of silly people paid millions by billionaires such as Peter Thiel to put their silliness on blast.

There's being rational (which is logical 🖖), and then there's being "Rational" (which is when you base your worldview on a fucking Harry Potter fanfiction and live in fear of an evil computer god that doesn't exist yet).

      Why not both?

These jerkoffs spend years pondering what the robot god of the future has already done to them in imaginary simulations.
