      It's really long, but it's great. It's such a deep, somber portrait of a man perpetually on the run, but also climbing the ladder, that builds over the whole film.

      IMO this is Kubrick's most beautiful film. The costume and set design is incredible and the inside night shots are literally lit by candlelight because that is how the world looked at back then. For me that's more than enough to give a strong recommendation

      It's pretty great, a real Kubrick classic, but also quite long, and maybe kind of dull at times. I pretty much only watched it for the 18th century historical flair though, not through a very analytical lens.
