I kinda feel like at this point the bourgeois power is consolidated enough that they could just do this shit in the open and feel no repercussion. Trump and Clinton could both go on TV and say “yeah we fuck kids, fucking love it, I fact we just got down fucking a kid before filming this” and it’d have like zero impact on anything. So why not just let the little twerp squeal? Wtf does it matter?

The royal family also aren't just people they're an institution and think about these things from an institutional perspective their attitude to Andrew's trial is more comparable to the mafia's attitude to the trial of a senior figure than you're average mega rich person
The rich and powerful require the public’s complacency or their lives will be a lot less… comfortable. As Michael Parenti said, they don’t care about anything regarding the public, except its opinion.
Doing it in the open would probably result in a serious increase in stochastic terrorism, which is bad optics for the "business community"
