You know I’m just going to ask here, but does anyone have any idea what I should do? I’m 20 right now and I have like no idea what I should do with my life. High school was a mess due to several mental issues, which is why I finished like 3-4 years later than usual. I’m thinking of going to something like a vocational school but I’m really not sure what the hell I should do. There's a vocational school that's mainly for neurodiverse people who have issues with regular education, I'm looking at that but I'm unsure. (This is kind of a repost but I'm just looking for some help cause I'm lost rn lol)

It’s super common to not know what you wanna do at 20. I know the high school gap feels like a lot now, but enough of your peers are going to be switching majors multiple times, taking gaps, taking lighter loads, dropping out, etc, that by the time you have a career under way you’re not gonna feel much of that FOMO. That’s especially true if you can get into a good trade because there’s a good chance you’ll still be hitting milestones sooner than some of them (especially the ones whose parents can’t co-sign for them on a everything)

I know plenty of neurodivergent comrades who are machinists or help do logistics for manufacturing sector stuff and do well with it. You don’t need to dream of labor. That makes the whole “I have to enjoy my work” thing less pressuring. Nah, you just need to find stuff that’s engaging and well paying enough that you’re not scraping by or burning out after a couple years.

My one friend started out unloading deliveries for a sign company. Now he fixes industrial-sized printers. I don’t know anyone who starts out going “I want to fix industrial sized printers”, but it’s work that keeps him out of poverty and gives him enough free time to do photography, which is his passion. Dude tried living off of photography for a couple years and found that he couldn’t stand doing most of the commercially viable versions of photography. He’d apparently rather fix million-dollar printers than attend 2 weddings a week
