tag yourself, I'm the anonymous Dragon Age II defender (I haven't played that game in like 10 years but I honestly remember having an alright time with it, then again I haven't played through Origins so I don't have that to compare it against)
I sided with the elf terrorist guy in Witcher 2 as soon as I could, sorry Roche
This is hilarious, guy sounds like Jonathan Pie on one of his tirades.
I too remember enjoying Dragon Age II until I was told that I shouldn't by angry online s
I liked the setting, the sound, the characters, but the gameplay was… different in a way that was continued in every EA BioWare rpg since.
yooo I love DA2, it's my favourite DA game tbh
The characters in that game were by far my favourite (esp Isabela)
idk if this is a weird opinion but I love the way the story unfolds
like the other games are about these world-ending cataclysmic events and you're practically the chosen one and then DA2 comes along and it's all very local w/ Hawke taking care of their family and trying to make something of themself in the cityIt's just a weirdly cosy vibe idk if that makes sense
I genuinely loved that you were just some random refugee schmuck trying to build a life for themselves and their family members while also helping their new friends with their problems and weird schemes. That's infinitely more interesting than some standard Bioware plot where you're a destined chosen one who has to save the world from being destroyed by the devil.
Unfortunately, basically everything else in the game was kind of ass with the relentlessly copypasted environments being the most egregious example
It's my favourite Dragon Age game as well for basically those exact reasons, I absolutely love that the story is for the most part very localised to Kirkwall and your friends.
I never connected to the Inquisition party like I did with DA2's because they just felt like coworkers rather than friends.
Also side note: I will never forgive cdpr for cutting Iorveth from the Witcher 3.
I was so salty about DA2 when it came out as someone who loved Origins. I hated the forced protagonist and I hated that it wasn't turn based. The game itself was so drastically different from Origins that I wish they had just released it as a spinoff set in the same world rather than as a direct sequel to Origins.
I don't give a shit now, but I've still never played DA2 outside of that demo they released before it came out.
BG3 was the dragon age origins sequel I wanted. I didn't know it at the time, but I just really like CRPGs with solid story telling that let's me make decisions that at least feel like I'm directly effecting the plot.
Being a Dragon Age: Origins fanatic and long time CRPG lover, I was disappointed by the downgrades but still mostly enjoyed Dragon Age II at the time. Once I got over it not being Origins II, my only big gripe was towards the end I found the copy pasted levels nauseating.
