Matt uses God as a shorthand for a much fuzzier concept

It’s defined in the Elementary Forms of Relgious Life by Emile Durkheim. He argues that religion forms in moments of social effervescence, so to Matt’s point, god is the recognition of the social organism and our rationalization towards it as individuals. Wish Matt would read more actual theory to back up his sincerely good points but that’s why he’s on twitch instead of publishing books

    Matt has become the armchair.

I do not have anything against religious people it’s a personal choice but it’s ridiculous to consider religion as some kind of materialist thing

I like the vlogs, but they're starting to feel repetitive. Wish he branched out on more ideas or learned more periods of history to analyze.

Reminiscent of Paul Tillich: God is just ultimate purpose.

So can you explain why ultimate purpose had a carpenter failson? Or told some guy on a mountain to carve stone tablets?
