    At this point I believe liberals don't see Russia as a real country with people, but rather a mischievous trickster god that can be blamed for anything from socialists on the internet to crop failure

      It drives me up the wall. "Russia gonna Russia" what the fuck does that mean? Things change, ideology and motivations change, internal forces change, nothing is static, especially an entire country. Libs don't think, they are intensely uncurious and only believe in what they already know.

          I do not take anyone's opinions on eastern europe seriously irl unless they can name 4 soviet leaders. It's an easy way to tell who's opened up a history book and who hasn't. Same for Chinese leaders, name three.

              That's why i specify 4 for the ussr, and three for china. It's the assumption that they already know Lenin, Stalin, and Gorbachev, Mao, and Xi. If they can't even name the obvious ones, then they clearly aren't knowledgeable on the region, and won't be able to understand historical context and reasoning.
