Embrace the plastic paddy spirit. All culture is commodity under capitalism, might as well enjoy it if its not targeting vulnerable groups. It's not like south Boston is being systematically oppressed by people dressing up as the Notre Dame mascot for one day out of the year.

Edit: apologies if this came off as glib but I know one too many self-proclaimed Irish Americans who seethe at the "fakeness" of St. Patrick's Day every year yet know absolutley nothing about the actual history or culture of the island. They just want an excuse to get mad at people enjoying "their" holiday
