Pretty much the title, I’m looking to get a skateboard and I don’t know whether I should look for a complete setup or try and buy each part separately.

I’m looking to get my first one since I mainly snowboard, and I’ve also longboarded a little.

I’m mainly looking for a way to practice and keep active during the summer, I’m out in the burbs so not really using it to get around, just to and from a local park.

Go to your local skate shop rather than zuniez or wherever else at the mall sells skateboards. Actual skate shops will be WAY more knowledgeable and helpful and won't try to up sell you shit

Buy a shop deck, they're like half the price of pro model deck and are the same thing (pretty much ALL major company decks are produced by a small number of manufacturers then they paint them for different companies)

    Trucks get Indys or Thunder

Wheels get Spitfire formula 4 or Bones

    Bearings get Bones Reds

build your own comrade, it's pretty fun and knowing your board better can help in the future. Like others said if you go to a local shop and describe your needs and experience they'll hook you up with a kit of all the right pieces and will practically put it together for ya if you need. (or will let you borrow tools to use alongside YouTube vids)

I built my own and shattered my ankle when the side bit a wheel on a downhill. So if you do it do it better than I did lmao

Oh, and for starting out get soft wheels. They're not as good for tricks, but it will be a much softer learning curve while you get used to the board. You can get harder wheels after you learn how to ollie and have taken a couple spins in the bowl.

Also, looser trucks will probably be more comfortable for you if you're used to longboarding and snowboarding.
