  • As a bit of a fashion wonk I'd say shien is def the fastest, dirtiest, cheapest, and lowest quality stuff but esp if you really can't find the piece in your size/ color anywhere else and it won't be worn out too heavily then its def an option. Don't feel too bad cause it's on par with other fast fashion but obv don't start ordering 10 pieces a week from them ya know.

My tip would be to reverse image search the clothes you like on Google and if you don't get any hits make a good search description of the peice and go to depop, grailed, then your local thrift store! More time consuming but vintage is usually higher quality, same price, and keeps the planet one shirt healthier.

  • build your own comrade, it's pretty fun and knowing your board better can help in the future. Like others said if you go to a local shop and describe your needs and experience they'll hook you up with a kit of all the right pieces and will practically put it together for ya if you need. (or will let you borrow tools to use alongside YouTube vids)

solidarity and love comrade, I doubt I can solve your feelings but as some words of encouragement I think you might come to find out you have more in common with ur coworkers than you thought. I understand what it feels like to feel that posting into a void is somehow getting to ppl who reflect and appreciate your framework of thinking of things, esp in a Marxist context. But like try to focus back in onto the little fleeting moments that make life different than the internet, bullshit about annoying customers with the soccer mom in the office. At times when you're able to escape the ever consuming activities do bold things on your own, print posters to post around and spread your message so that you can walk by and say I did that. Friends gravitate towards people with purpose :)

another vote for phone aspect ratio since many ppl who want to repost would rather do it on their temporary story rather than part of their main content so it can add to virality! Side note... I really want an isolated audio of Anthony fantano saying "Capitalism, it's not good" with an explosion. I can prob get him to post it too if the meme hits right, someone I know is on his tik tok fyp

  • Have fun and express your style in a way that makes you feel comfortable. I love thrifting too and if you can, accessorize a little. In a work environment it gives people a talking point and makes ya stand out even if your fit is basic. A cool bag, bright coat, silver jewelry, hat with vintage local sports team. Take the comments well! Oh yeah I picked it up recently, do you like thrifting too?

  • That's OK! I don't think anyone is feeling burdened or that they're "wasting" advice, I'd say most people that try in help in that way love sharing their experiences with overcoming obstacles! -that is the thing though when ppl give advice online it's probably their own POV and if they don't know your situation they're very likely to gloss over a thing or two that may be important to you. Just keep seeking input and slowly the right combination of advice will spark a self realization. You're worthy in this fd up world and change rarely happens suddenly.

Do it but use your privileged position to build community structures (unionize lol) and give mutual aid a large spot in your budget. Past the money you need to continue living, just funnel Hella into local anarchist mutual aid groups that do resource distribution to unhoused folks, trust me they really need to funding and are largely run by gutter punks with lots of time and no money.
