The tlacoyo is part of the Mexican gastronomy originating in the center of the country and dates back to before the arrival of the Spaniards to the American territory.

A closer look at three tlacoyos in a plate Together with sopes, huaraches and gorditas, tlacoyos are similar traditional Mexican snacks, made with corn, beans and chili, which are not only healthy but also delicious!

In particular, the tlacoyo consists of a kind of oval pie made of nixtamalized blue corn that can be filled with different foods of vegetable or animal origin, such as beans, lima beans, green peas, chicharrón or cottage cheese.

At the moment of serving, cream, cheese, salsa, nopales, onion and cilantro are usually added.

It is believed that tlacoyo was used by the indigenous people of Mesoamerica as "itacate" when they made long trips.

Its name comes from the Nahuatl tlaoyo which means "shelled corn patty".

In tlaolli it means "dried corn kernels" and in tlacualli it means "food".

Tlacoyos are a dish of pre-Hispanic origin that originally had no dairy ingredients, such as cream or cheese, which were incorporated after the arrival of the Spaniards. However, it is believed that the rest of the ingredients are preserved as they were originally prepared, handmade and cooked on a comal.

I have officially entered my joker era :marx-joker:

My company just shared how much money the department I belong to is generating for the company: 7 million

Guess how much of that we're getting? Not even 1% :agony-limitless:

I guess I phrased that wrong.

7 million is brought in by my department alone

So all 50 of us should be getting at least 80K each (if not more)

lmao It's just baffling to see it laid out in front of you

Of course, it would only really make an impression if you had some semblance of class consciousness

Company is a firm believer in the Dan Price strategy of "paying workers what they're worth", but that doesn't seem to keep them from stealing more than would ever be possible by taxes :soviet-hmm:

My mom, bless her soul, when I explained to her how much she generates for the company and how little of it she gets in return.

Indeed! I use this line of logic a lot when talking to people about unionizing. Certain types of workers (mostly PMC) workers think of themselves as being paid "well enough", but they still make a small fraction of what their labor product is sold for.

People really really really don't understand that they're being ripped off by the sheer fact they work for a wage and no matter how much a wage goes up, it isn't actually 'enough '
