Several instances are currently spamming this community with garbage. We're trying to ban them all but new ones keep popping up. Our apologies but do know we are working on it.
Believe it or not but Lemmygrad admin is not my daily job and I have to do that as well, so it might be flooded in the meantime 😤
Wish I could help in some way. Mastadon also saying there's some Japanese group targeting fedi as well, tons of bots and spam.

We now just add the instances to the block list and purge the content, but we can't know which instance they will use next (I think). I currently don't know what else we could do. Maybe some more tech savvy admins can help with that.
Any news on what the group behind it is motivated by? Why target fediverse? :(
Since most of the spam is in Japanese, that makes me wonder if I offended a Japanese nationalist by discussing Imperial war crimes. It could be just a coincidence, though.
I suspect these are spammers exploring new venues/revenue streams.
