I listen to these guys from time to time, and I'm always disappointed. They always sound like they're totally unprepared to discuss whatever topics they get onto, and they just wing it and ramble. They make claims that they don't sound confident about (again, because they haven't done any prep work), and in my opinion, a lot of the time just sound like idiots
We both have fulltime jobs as well as other obligations but we try our best to read up on the topics before making an episode.
Like many online leftists we were inspired by Chapo Trap House to create our show and offer a different kind of show for a slightly different audience.
We try to gear our episodes towards an audience that is either new to leftism or what some might consider "normies".
Happy to take any and all criticism. Until we are able to devote the time required to prepare more we will have to stick to this format. That would require a Patreon which have not yet setup because at this time we dont want to ask for any support.
Could you please point to a specific point you had issue with?
Ah, apologies for calling you idiots. I didn't realize I was speaking directly to y'all, I would've been more sensitive if I hadn't thought that I was just blasting text into the ether. Cool to see you taking part in the community.
Here's my criticism, while trying to be conscientious of the person reading it:
In this episode, y'all are talking about a serious subject (the war in Ukraine) and the conversation sounds like you are firing from the hip. Your discussion sounds unprepared. In many cases, being highly prepared isn't necessary (dunking on Azov Something, for example, everybody should feel obliged to shit on him all day without any prep), but with regard to a sensitive subject like this, I feel like it only hurts your messaging when your sentences are punctuated with "I think that-", or "I'm pretty sure about...". Now, maybe you very well are prepared, in which case my point basically boils down to a suggestion that you work on the style in which you speak or deliver your pod. If you don't sound like you have conviction or confidence in what you are delivering, it sounds like you aren't really invested in the subject, or treating it with the respect it deserves - something that, in my opinion, is absolutely necessary for an explicitly political pod (cumtown can get away with not having confident convictions because they aren't at all interested/invested in delivering political or ideological content, as a contrast to y'all).
Anyway, this is just my subjective opinion, if that's useful to y'all I'm glad I could help - if not, just disregard me and my earlier comments.
I might also point out that this is the opinion of someone who is already a very well established communist, so I'm not exactly your target audience (although I enjoy listening to lefty pods anyways, just because it's nice to have a reminder that folks like y'all exist in the world)
Thank you, this was actually very helpful and I totally understand what your saying.
We are working trying to remove those modifiers from our speech. We've discussed this off the air. My cohost and I are always aware we very well could be incorrect about something. I come from a family with many liberals and many conservatives so I was always having to speak passively to avoid confrontation.
I care deeply about debate and maintaining an open mind. This being why I believe I have become a leftist. Also why I've had issue with Adam because it seems he has been viewing criticism as a personal attack against him.
Let me see if I can poke my cohost to give his opinion on your comment as well.
I understand, I try not to take these things personally. You will never please everyone and that is okay. The internet is a dehumanizing place to have a conversation at times.
Again, always happy to hear any and all thoughts. Appreciate your input!

I want to apologize again for my earlier rudeness, I'm looking forward to see what y'all do in the future.

Nice to see comradely disagreement! I will give the pod a listen.
