Yeah I already know this card would run all my retro-ass games fine.
western STEM-lords are great at refining graphics towards asymptotic performance metrics but they can't for the life of them come up with a compelling narrative/plot for a game (and definitely not any good dialogue/character development).
We don't need more pixels, we need better fucking writers.

I don't thing we can say that about writing without considering 2 factors first:
Current game design might not lend to good writing. The limitations to the style of gameplay sets limitations on the stories that could be told. Think of your favourite movie or book which are well written, how often do they involve shooting hundreds of people or creatures?
Commercialization means that you need to fill story based games with 20-50 hours of content which keep players attentions. Just like with TV series, the more space you need to fill in a shorter time, the more difficult it is to output tight writing. I don't think it's necessarily a lack of talent, as it is the requirement of having to fill in dialogue trees for thousand of NPCs, and likely have to get that finished with enough time to do voice acting and motion capture. There just isn't that much time to do any sort of story planning or punch up dialogue!
