    there's kind of an interesting history of Marvel/Timely struggling against comic censorship, like the HUAC and CCA and a lot of that is tied into American censorship of positive portrayals of leftists or stories involving LGBTQ themes. A lot of horror comics were censored too. Some early Spiderman comics were (for the time and medium) nuanced portrayals of kids dealing with things like drug addiction or broken homes, and that drew a lot of ire.

    like there's something to be said about capital and the American state engaging in cultural psyops in the supposed interest of protecting children. Happened a lot in the 20th century

    But all of that was like 50 years ago at the most recent. Marvel now is effectively a wing of the American state in a sick perverse kind of reversal.
