I don't know how many others do too, but I think that's some pretty bloomer shit to be able to believe you'll be around for communism. What can it hurt to believe we're closer to it than we think?

I mean if folks don't believe it's going to happen, they might not feel like putting in extra work. But if it's around the corner, we can do little steps in our lives to make things better faster.

Wait, how old are you? For all I know "within my lifetime" is like thirty years.

This reminds me of one of the coping skills I have for living in a horrific capitalist dystopia. Remember when you were a bored kid and used to internally pretend to be, like, a kidnapped princess? An undercover spy? A secret alien or someone with superpowers? I do this, but instead I pretend that I'm already living under fully-automated luxury gay space communism. Like, that plastic I feel bad about consuming? It's biodegradable and made from mushrooms, actually. Everything is fine.

My goal at this point is to just make my own version of utopia as much as I can in this shit system and share it with as many as I can.

It's a hard climb to do it, and there are a ton of legal questions I'm still working up. But a huge plot of woods where me and my friends can make houses and work together to live... that's the communism I envision in the future. Ofcourse we're lucky to make enough to even think of this as an option. But jesus that's what I want.

I wish opsec wasn't a necessity because I have this dream too, for years now. Long covid sucks because it makes me want to hermit even more, but also makes me fear I won't be physically capable enough contribute to a communal situation like this.

From each according to their ability, to each according to their need. I'd imagine very quickly a small community could support a member who wouldn't contribute at all. And I doubt anyone would really fall into the "contributes nothing" territory. Takes all sorts of skills to build and enrich a community, physical labor is a small part.

i think everyone here would be delighted with any post-capitalist society. just seeing how much the USSR and the PRC achieved in half a century, imagine a proletarian State in the imperial core for instance. we could achieve so much. and i don't even mean it in a chauvinist way, i mean as a species.

I see communism on a small scale all the time. Like when me and my roommates make dinner together and there's no poring over receipts and venmoing someone $2. Or our neighbor lending us tools and even some labor for house projects.

I want to believe. Feels like I'm either going to see a post-capitalis society of some kind, or see the world end so...
