Chinese people on XHS being shocked and horrified by what's considered normal in the US is very indicative of this. They generally don't think about us at all. The average Chinese person that hasn't been to America probably thinks the standard of living must be high because it's such a "rich" country. It's amazing knowing that the US is doing anti-capitalist agitation by merely existing and being observed by normal people.

Ooh, I like that IIO song. I guess I'm looking for songs that really complement and focus on the person the song is addressed to rather than saying what the singer wants and talking about how amazing they are. A lot of the stuff I've been finding seems to be the latter.

I used to feel the same way (still do sometimes). I think you just have to put yourself out there even if it's frightening and embarrassing. Being social is a skill like any other that you need to practice to get better at.

I'm doing probably the best I ever have. For the first time in my life (and I'm not young ) I have a partner who loves me as much as I love them (previous relationships were full of doubts, suspicions, accusations, and general ambivalence from partners) and I'm filled with a previously unthinkable amount of warmth and joy. The society I live in is absolutely depraved and must be destroyed but I finally have a space in my life where I can get a little reprieve and recuperate.

Also, they could have stopped sending weapons to Israel any time without a ceasefire in place. If they wanted an end to the violence, why did they keep fueling it with billions in weapons?

The 2nd reason, the economy, was also something they kept pretending was absolutely fine, great even.

I would instead act like I have never heard the term before. Play really dumb and when they start fumbling trying to describe what it is I'll just say, "Isn't that just normal people doing normal things?"

"Trans people are being tricked by Satan" or something. "We're trying to save them from an eternity in hell" is probably what they would say when pressed on why they're so hateful.
