      I think that was the wokest way it was discussed in the 80's. Like, still not good per say but honestly pretty impressive that the nomenclature is the best for the time(I'm stunned they didn't misgender her) and humor people are still catching up to.

        This is basically it. Playboy's writers were essentially unsupervised, which is why in its golden age it had a lot of legitimately good articles/interviews alongside the softcore porn.

      Hefner was a gross sex creep but he was actually fairly progressive on LGBT stuff. He hired a lot of gay writers during a time when being openly gay got you blacklisted.
