i heard the live action reboot is changing it so that the character threatening to break up the family isn't a suited federal agent with military connections, but a social worker from Hawaii itself.
Which... like, wow, you've recognized uncomfortable themes in a work of fiction, better patch that script! Except, apparent to nobody at The Walt Disney Company® (DIS), those uncomfortable themes were intentional. It's supposed to draw a parallel between the treatment of Hawaiian people by US Federal power and the literal alien empire very obviously forcing its laws and customs on a planet with no capacity to communicate for itself let alone resist.
Literally not one of these live action remakes have been a good idea.
Yeah this and Malificent were at least decent because they actually did something original by telling from a villain POV and stuff. The straight remakes are what suck. ( @Wheaties@hexbear.net )
"Did you ever kill anyone?" is an iconic line in film history and it won't be the same.
its obvious lol. she HAS to feed a specific fish a peanut butter sandwich once a week. she has a weird doll she made herself and has an elaborate backstory for, and the other girls find her weird. she's a five year old in the 2000s who listens to elvis when she's depressed?????
sorry that is not a neurotypical child
eta: all that is in the first fifteen minutes btw
