What you're talking about is called a "thumb safety" and lots of guns don't have them. This isn't new, either, the Glock 17 came out in 1982. link

What you're talking about is called a "thumb safety" and lots of guns don't have them. This isn't new, either, the Glock 17 came out in 1982.
