I wish we could blame him for Climate Change, but Cook helps us understand the extent colonization changed the climate, with studies suggesting the genocide here on Turtle Island reduced the Earth's temperature. As well as acknowledging how the destruction of the bioregional agriculture practices established across the hemisphere, has sent the Earth's regulatory systems into a change.

Good and cool post. Want to mention the constant sexual and physical assault Cook himself and his crew generally committed pretty much everywhere, but most egregiously in Tahiti. To the level that other navy captains remarked in shock upon it.
He wasn't just a mildly shit Colonialist guided into horrible actions by the imperitives of imperialism, as you occasionally see.
He was an awful person who lept into the opportunities of atrocity and genocide with an open and happy heart.
I usually don't like to celebrate killing, but the statues that should be made should be of those Hawaiian heroes that finally ended his terror.
Yea just as a survivor of SA and colonization I wanted to highlight just how many places he has affected, relate it to dates people are familiar with and let people explore the real depravities themselves as its fairly readily available. Plus theres always next year to inform more instead of reposting these primers yknow
