This is basically the serial killer equivalent of "I have a black friend". An hour long talk isn't even guaranteed to change the mind of a lib.
It's really obvious this event wasn't enough to convey a sense of shared community with this guy which is what I'm always getting at. Relationships take more work and time than that.
