Milk Tea I drink everyday (no sugar)
yewtu.beAll amounts can be adjusted to taste. Yes, I'm using a dining spoon as a measurement because it's easy.
The recipe is based on 罐罐烤奶 Guan Guan Kao Nai, which can be translated to Jar Jar (or Can Can) Roasted Milk. GGKN seems to be just a social media trend, but it is based on the tradition of 罐罐茶 Guan Guan Cha, which is mostly known in Gansu. Interesting how it travelled there. GGC doesn't use milk.
Red Tea version:
For each 360 ml or 1.5 cup portion
1 spoon Tea Leaves (Dianhong Tea recommended, but not necessary)
1 spoon Goji Berries
1 spoon dried Red Dates
1 spoon dried Osmanthus Flowers OR dried Rose Petals OR dried Longan
(Optional, I just opt out) Sugar, Brown Sugar, or Yunnan sugar to taste
240ml or 1 cup water
120ml or half cup milk
Just toss them all in a pot and boil 5 to 10 minutes. Letting it cool overnight in the fridge makes it better.
Green Tea version:
For each 360 ml or 1.5 cup portion
1 spoon Green Tea leaves
1 spoon Goji Berries
1 spoon dried Red Dates
1 spoon dried jasmine flowers
(Optional) Sugar, Brown Sugar, or Yunnan sugar to taste
240ml or 1 cup water
120ml or half cup milk
Put green tea leaves in water in pot, increase water temperature to 70C or 158F. Off burner. Let tea steep for 5 minutes. Take out tea leaves.
Toss in Goji and Dates in and turn on burner for 5 minutes. Then off burner and put in jasmine flowers. Let steep for 2 minutes and take out flowers.
Overnight is better, but don't put in tea leaves and jasmine flowers or it will make it bitter.
Yum! Tempted to try. I wonder how it'd go with non-cow milks? Do they hold up to boiling?
Soy milk in milk teas is the GOAT.
Gotta get the Chinese style stuff though. It's very different than Western supermarket soy milk.
