    I used to work for a company that harvested organs from cadavers. Small bits like veins or corneas or ligaments are almost certainly "locally sourced", probably from within your state/county. Whole organs, esp. solid organs, almost certainly came off a flight.

        It's all "above board" in the sense the organs themselves are pretty well scrutinized and have a paper trail.

        The bodies they came from less so. Most of the ones we sourced were either prisoners or car-crashes, but nobody is going to turn down cheap parts.

      Organ donation has to come from a specific region that is within a certain flight time. Like you can take an organ from New York to Philadelphia but you can't take an organ from Tampa to New York. More or less before the harvesting of organs can begin, the person receiving the organ needs to be mostly prepped and ready since there's a pretty tight window of viability.
