yes it's three hours long, yes it's slop, dont @ me 💅
Please tell me she doesn't defend this book. It's full of weird toxic relationship shit.
she doesn't defend the book, it's more a psychological exploration of why otherwise decent and egalitarian people end up wanting dark shit that reinforces male supremacy
Some parts are done justice, other parts are not. All in all, it's a very good video by the standards of the exploration of sexuality, especially w.r.t. psychological mechanisms. From what i could tell twilight itself is used more as an exemplar of the genre (because most of us know what it's about through pure cultural osmosis), and a jumping off point for discussion about deeper things (an ironic enjoyment of the work is offered, as far as i can tell, just to mug at the camera a bit). Sadly, i've found that the more people dig into sexuality and its mechanisms (as a group discussion) the more they become weird philosophy goblins about their differences (and i'm no exception), so despite my lukewarm review you might completely bounce off of it, which is fair enough.
it felt like an exploration of romance novels as a whole, lots of stuff about sexuality, love and desire, and does touch on the toxic relationships in twilight
ig cw for discussions of abuse, transphobia, harry potter references, but it's for the most part family friendly viewing
*edit it's family not amply lol
