Not just WiFi, Ethernet connection is giving me the same shit: feels like the more tabs I open the higher the chance my Internet connection would drop for a bit. What could it be? Halp. Sometimes it's nothing and at other times I get these strange lags. Don't even know what exactly to complain about to my provider bc whenever I check my internet speed it is as declared, but sometimes it just drops, the connection, for a few seconds.
Is it Chromium-based browser? I get that too. I think it's gotta' do with the tab sandboxing, especially if one has a lot of extensions, maybe.
i use Firefox but do have a lot of extensions, maybe i should look into those...
is it correlated with what's open on those tabs? some ISPs will throttle your whole connection if you're accessing a "streaming" site. this is meant to encourage you to sign up for extra subscriptions that just make the internet work like normal again. if this is your problem, set up a VPN and never turn it off.
i feel like when i use google services the chance of a lag increases, but it still feels more or less random, with VPN on too
might be just that your ISP is way over-subscribed, so when too many people access the network at the same time, they run out of capacity and you get throttled.
that does sound pretty likely. it happened before like a month ago and also on Fri/Sat when ostensibly more ppl would be online
yep, you can try switching to a different company but unless you have a municipal broadband option, they're all basically carbon copies of each other and equally shit.
