Looking like that one leak might be true since they mentioned in this video a skill tree and gates that take you to more traditional boost stages both of which the leak mentioned.
The leak also mentioned multiple playable characters, which looks like it could be true now especially since we know Amy and Tails are with Sonic at the beginning and the Sonic Central video showed a brief short of Knuckles.
If that's true then there will also be a Chao Garden according to the leak.
I think the general aesthetic is fine, but the puzzles they showed looked pretty lame. Sonic seems also to move pretty darn slow.
Gonna be honest this game looks boring. It's filled with a whole bunch of nothing. Sonic 06 looks better.

I hope there is a city or two to bring some life to the areas, but the gameplay loop of running around doing puzzles and fighting bosses to unlock boost stages to get the chaos emeralds sounds fun to me.I think it's a problem with open world games. A lot of open world games are a whole bunch of nothing. If this is the overworld, OK, but this needs a dense city with wild stuff you can do. It needs to be more like an open-world skating game a la Skate 3 I think, with missions you can do in-game that transition into semi-linear levels.
Oh someone also mentioned that there's no momentum. A Sonic game. With no momentum.
