It's a website about scythes. You know, the long blade on the end of a stick used to cut grass? A whole website just about those.

If you check out their about us page it seems like these are a couple of old homesteaders who, in their search to find a more ethical way to live, found some spiritual affinity for the scythe.

There are some sections where the writing is a little disorganized, feel like they could have used an editor for clarity's sake. But it also seems genuine. These people are just passionate about living off-grid. And scythes, especially.

Is this a bizarre attempt at stealth marketing by the big scythe manufacturers?

Thought it was neat.

I actually got a scythe a while back partly from reading stuff like this.

It’s fine, decent exercise, a lot of people do it in the morning when it’s quiet and the sun is rising, slow rhythmic movements etc so I see how they get spiritual with it. Sort of like tai chi. But I don’t get that angle.

What it is is a good tool for mowing tall meadows/clearing brush (with the right blade). Anything a mower can’t process. It’s much more efficient than a string trimmer, particularly because it deposits cuttings in rows instead of throwing them everywhere.

For short grass it’s much much slower than a mower though.

Got to use a gas powered pole mounted hedge trimmer a couple days ago. It's like a light sabe for bushes.

It was missing the shoulder strap though and I'm still sore.
