Things are alright, but we have moderate differences in goals and life paths that make a more fulfilling relationship unlikely. Being with him is really fun and affirming, but it just feels like something is missing. At the same time, I am afraid if I end things to focus on dating more I'll be lonely and feel selfish.

Looking for advice and perspectives on when to leave or stay.

I have let wondering if the grass is greener elsewhere ruin a handful of relationships. On most occasions it wasn't any greener elsewhere, just different. But I eventually realized what I actually did need in those situations, was just to be alone, and take some time to become okay with myself.

Thinking I am at that point, too. Thanks for sharing.

I mean the grass is greener where you water it. But you should start thinking about leaving if none of your water is taking

Think hard about what exactly it is that you're missing in this relationship. When you have something specific that can be improved, don't be afraid to ask for it nicely, it can help your partner too if they haven't thought of it or didn't know it was a problem for you. Honest communication is very important, including tough conversations like these

I appreciate the advice. We have talked about it at length sadly and it doesn't seem like things will change. Now is sort of a holding pattern where things are okay but many of the things that are important to me aren't going to fit his life.
