I'm kinda shocked they go there on birthright. You'd think they'd steer people better. And knowing this, I'm shocked anyone who goes on birthright doesn't come back with misgivings about the occupation

Birthright is a huge propaganda dose designed to make Israel look perfect and make you feel like you belong.

Being Jewish as a kid in an area where it’s rare makes you feel like an outsider in your community.

I never went on birthright because I was aware that Netanyahu aligned with the politics of the guy who assassinated Yitzak Rabin for trying to sign the Oslo accords. Knowing that the Israeli population DID NOT WANT PEACE was a wake up to the zionist bullshit.

Oslo accords weren’t perfect, but the push to reject them under the guise of “not perfect” is bullshit.

yeah, but if you want to make israel look perfect why show people settlements where they can literally look down and see the underclass of palestinians below?

All I can come up with is maybe the racism is so ingrained and the mistreatment of palestinians so normalized that the israelis don't realize that (at least some) kids on birthright are going to see that and go "what the fuck. you are the baddies."

The course corrections happened. They avoid going into West Bank or Gaza anymore. Basically they don’t want to show “we are the baddies” until the kids are so bought in that admitting it would be painful. As you basically get kicked out of Judaism in America for daring to say “Israel is maybe not there good guys”

Both Jewish and non-Jewish Americans have 70-80% support for Israel. About half of those somehow hold the position of supporting Israel while also believing that the Israeli government should pursue a ceasefire.

It’s funny how American liberals and Osama had the same beliefs about American governance. They both believe(d) that if enough people vote for anti-war legislation, the representatives will act on it and stop war in the Middle East.

Saying negative things about Zionism in the Jewish community will get you attacked.

Because that’s almost perfect. In their eyes, the dirty underclass will either perish and their land taken, or they work as slaves and servants.

Kings and emperors parade in the dirty muddy streets so their subjects grovel at them. Slave masters sip tea on their porch while slaves are bleeding on the ground and getting whipped.

The only real problem for them is that it’s taking too long to reach perfection.

And if that’s not it, then seeing all of them from your high tower that you stole makes you believe you’re superior because you’re in their house while they’re on the streets.

Also, don't look up how Israel treats non-Ashkenazi Jews. Worst mistake of my life!
