I had a nightmare that was kinda like this and now I'm worried I told the wrong person about it. If they return to find that their cars have been towed (for ransom, naturally) and that the parking garage is now a casino, I lathed this and I apologize.
Between this and the Stranger Things kid doing the job prank, I won't be surprised if people start beating the shit out of those who are doing it.

From what I can tell the jobs were baby sitting jobs and other 1-time deals, not exploiting how much people will put up with for the hope of a stable income.
