Are millions of years of evolution keeping you from taking your pet snake for a walk?

I'd love to have one, if only they didn't have to be fed live (edit: not live, but still) mice.

the rats ideally shouldn't be alive, it's cruel to the rat and dangerous for the snake. it's easy for the animal to lose an eye that way. in fact i find it to be a major red flag when somebody insists on live feeding their reptiles, this shouldn't be necessary with captive-bred animals that can be accustomed to pre-killed prey since they hatch.

I thought the snakes need the enrichment of actually killing their own food or something. But idk much about snakes.

But either way, it needing to be fed rats in general, live, frozen, thawed, whatever, makes it a big nope for me despite how much I'd otherwise love to have one.
