      The sugarcoating worked on me for a good few minutes when I stumbled upon one of their little recruitment sites in college. It's persuasive - who wouldn't want to choose a career that makes a positive impact on the world? Then I read on to see what they considered to be meaningful areas of focus and a cacophony of alarms started sounding in my head

        they are correct that helping people is good. They however are also idiots who have watched way too many movies and should not be listened to.

        If someone's biggest concern is that the plot of terminator might happen then they are not a serious person and should not be listened to

      The suckers lapping up books and tickets to see LT gurus at Ted Talks range from venture capitalist rich dudes to deluded Techbros spending on credit.

      These gurus are taking in billionaires and average workers in the same con. It is pretty impressive tbh.

      It's particularly annoying since we do have to think about the long term, namely that if we don't act in the short term there isn't going to fucking be a long term for these assholes or anyone else. You've got to get past the next 200 years first.
