It’s pretty obvious that the mods are biased towards white people and the Midwesterners in particular. You can make fun of white people all you want, but the moment you even dare criticise a black person then the kid gloves come off and the Nazi mods ban you.

I’m Midwestern and honestly, I’m offended by the comments I see here about Midwestern cooking. I know a lot of Midwestern people on this site feel the same but are afraid to speak up because of the authoritarian mods.

We don’t all eat deep dish pizza. I come from Minnesota. Here we have a dish called Tater Tot hotdish. It’s meat, tater tots, and onions all served submerged in cream of mushroom soup. Does that sound bad to you?

If there is black pride and gay pride, then why can’t I be proud to be Midwestern?

I am Midwestern and I am proud. I won’t be afraid anymore.

Huh. I just grew up in western NY and every time someone describes the Midwest, I feel like I recognize almost all of it from there. Way more so than most NY stereotypes which come from further upstate or the city. My mom talks about lutefisk all the time. I’ve just never had it because it sounds gross.

Americans like pretending they have all these distinct regions with totally different culture, but pretty much everywhere is very similar. The real divide is between urban, suburban/exurban, and rural American culture.
