    :zizek-preference: this so-called "Cracker Island" is in fact a reference to the development of capitalism and it's ideology in England - the "Collective of the dawn" being a oblique reference to the Enlightenment and liberalism, and "they taught themselves to be occult" a direct reference to the development of bourgeois values and behaviors, sex parties, the community of wives with the Carnival masks, and so on.
