      I actually empathize with that. I never realized how awful my relatives were until they went full tilt Qanon. As a kid they'd take me to get ice cream and we'd hang out on tire swings and other generic positive memories.

      Maybe it's just that I was a child and never noticed how racist they were because I had no context for what that meant.

      my brain tries to trick me that my parents were loving my entire childhood and i literally have mental illness from childhood trauma so uhm yea lol

        My parents absolutely loved me and did their best, but unrelated to their efforts is I Am Neurodivergent so a normal childhood is kind of passively traumatic, even with dedicated help for my specific neurodivergence. At least I've attained the self-awareness to know how far I've come?
