This might be controversial but the nineties were not that great and there was nothing vapory about them, we just had slightly less access to information from randos and mostly access to corporate media so all the stuff you hate now was simply swept under the rug and absent from your media diet. And magenta+cyan is a gloomy, lifeless color scheme, only tolerable in rare small amounts
I was born in 1998 so I don’t remember the 90s at all. I get nostalgic about Paintbrush/MS Paint because I spent a lot of time using them when I was a kid. I like the aesthetics of vaporwave, and of retrofuturism in general, but I don’t really have an attachment to the eras these genres are about.
