I've been trying to find a term to describe the way I feel when I hear a lib NPR whispervoice podcast describe state atrocities. Exonerative voice almost captures it, except it doesn't quite capture the gentle and reluctant acceptance
The Denver Post article on the cops who Snidely Whiplashed that woman and let her get hit by a train described it as something that happened when a “vehicle collision event unfolded.”
Edit: I was slightly off.
Police were responding to an initial report of road rage involving a firearm in Fort Lupton when the train collision incident unfolded, the bureau said.
