So they're anti immigrant? Siiigh, god damn it.
Why can't we have nice things?
: p I feel like we have books to address this but we need to get people to read them.
I blame the contradictions inherent within the capitalist system. People feel like they're being pitted against one another for a shrinking pie. They see outsiders as adversaries rather than partners.
Every single worker has more in common with the marginalised migrant workers in battle against the bourgeoisie than anything else.
I'm actually seeing sincerity in almost everything I find about them. This smells like a mistake caused by opportunism rather than a group of outright reactionaries. I don't feel like they should be outright thrown in the bin, the group still looks promising despite this throwaway short clip of poorly thought-through shouts.
yeah i should've written more last night, it doesn't seem like the group's ethos is anti immigrant just some :brainworms: members who need to learn some solidarity.
Sometimes sincere groups can be capitalized on by assholes and cranks. I'm reminded of Republicans throwing a bunch of money at the Green Party in the early '00s, which simultaneously fucked with the Democrats and the environmentalist movement. Or when Pride got cannibalized by Big Business. Or the CIA hijacking and sock-puppeting anarchist organizations at every opportunity.
Its possible some Karl Rove protege egged this group on into a public march a few weeks before early voting. And that's why they weren't immediately shut down by the APD, getting all the way to the capital steps to be greeted by a goofy Jan 6th glad-hander instead of a swarm of riot cops. But its also possible that they're genuine in their beliefs and just took the opportunity as it was presented, because it was better than spending yet another election cycle hidden away from the public eye.
Timing is garbage with the hurricane though. Won't do anything and will be forgotten about in a week. Hurricane season seems like a really poor time to aim to try and start anything in America but that's just an outsider's perspective.
No better time to activate and mobilize mutual aid groups than after a hurricane. Its a great opportunity to reach people who would otherwise be indifferent and to expand your foundation of support.
But you're not going to do that marching in circles around Austin.
I agree. The marching is forgettable in the face of genuine struggle and tragedy. Very poor timing.
at least it's only some of them? the tweet sort of sounds like they could just do a better job telling the anti-immigrant ones to shut up and be more like Fred.
Oof, they are also basically finding some common ground with J6ers.EDIT: Never mind, I was confusing Eric Braden (a J6er) with Nick Bezzel (one of the black 2A guys).

Meh.
Its a performative protest with some very peculiar attendees. Its happening when Dems are leaning hard on gun control legislation and Republicans are slipping in the polls. Feels like a total OP to me, but it also looks like someone pulled up a group that isn't particularly well-controlled.
Looks like someone was trying to gin up an October Surprise, but they had the misfortune of scheduling the event shortly before a Cat 5 hurricane. So nobody will notice - much less remember - by election day.
Where did you see that? The thread looks like they were dismissive of them, at least.
I went back over the tweets and I see I was confused; I mistook Eric Braden as Nick Bezzel.
The "close the borders" stuff is pretty bad, but at least they aren't full-on :brainworms:
this is like that "new black panther party" nonsense. reactionaries dressed up as revolutionaries.
seeing strong black people in the face of such an apartheid police state really makes me filled with hope.
:red-fist:
So who is this? Anyone know much about them?
I think I identified these logos and flags:
https://twitter.com/EGPGunClub
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Riders_Liberation_Party
I am stuck on the laurel wreath with the knife inside it. Can't find that one? Don't know anything about the above two groups either and would like to know how reactionary, if at all, they might be.
Ahh thank you.
I'm not seeing the same warning signs with these guys as with Black Hammer or NBPP. They seem sincere in their ideological inheritance of the Panthers and revolutionary leftism. Need to see more of theories they subscribe to.
