  • Japan won the propaganda push post WWII and so few people know about the horrible shit they did like having concentration camps to run scientific torture/experiments on prisoners with, or just committing genocides on every pacific island nation they happened upon. Also add in how every boomer I talk to won't shut up about "how clean, or how nice" Japan is but thinks it's a feature of their god damned genetics and not just a feature of a culture that gives so many fucks about traditionally presenting a good face to the world (never mind how horrid sexual violence is over there towards women).

  • I mean for the gastro stuff I pointed out it's valid, there's sadly people that experience a similar reaction to galactans (from beans) that people do to lactose (also similarly sets off IBS), there's also brassica and cruciforms that set off IBS (though green beans and spinach are low FODMOP alternatives, funny enough red and processed meats are also big trigger for IBS as well). These are specific conditions and not baseline as stated before and so likely is not what is claimed by individuals that state that meats are superior to a vegan diet or that going without meat is harmful to people (it's not as long as you meet your micro and macro nutrient requirements which is easy enough in a majority situations).

  • I flip flop between this mainly with how I've seen boomers agree with so many socialist talking points then short circuit when you call it what it is, socialism. I feel younger generations aren't as primed with it though and with material conditions sucking and worse off than boomers more open to being like "yeah we should destroy the capitalists cuss my rent ain't getting any cheaper either way". Anti communist brain worms only work truly on those that don't also have to constantly live in a continually declining living standard.

Thinkpads are pretty good either the older one's (bought a t540p recently cuss you can upgrade pretty much every aspect of it), but also used one's from the 2020s era run great (check to see if they have soldered ram or not, or at least one more expansion slot).
