A court in India has granted what appears to be the most aggressive site-blocking injunction in the history of copyright law. In advance of the movie 'Vikram Vedha' premiering in cinemas last Friday, a judge handed down an injunction that ordered 40 internet service providers to proactively and immediately block an unprecedented 13,445 sites.
How would the banning even work? This court move feels sort of like a torrent version of the Streisand effect.
I'm going to go way out on a limb and say that it's soon going to be discovered that the judge is closely related (or connected) to somebody on the movie. The director? A producer? Or...

It will always be possible to bypass their bans but the vast majority will not have the knowledge and effort to do so. Much like how this forum is a shadow of the banned subreddit.
