Yes, but Whatsapp also has this wild monopoly shit going in much of the global south where things conveniently got set up such that people get charged for SMS and could avoid the fees by using Whatsapp instead. From my understanding, it is practically impossible to live in Latin America without using it. You can't order a pizza without Whatsapp. (Correct me if I'm wrong)
