PolyMC, a Fork of MultiMC which was made partially because of bigotry in the lead Dev of MultiMC but mostly because of the slow merge time and authoritarian abuse of it's owners just imploded. A Maintainer who had stayed "quiet" about his dislike of "queer leftist ideology" but also hated the development speed of MultiMC joined form the beginning but contributed effectively nothing to the project aside form maintaining the AUR package. But recently he gained enough access to kick all the active Devs form the github Org account and repos and proceeded to nuke the Discord server and get it raided by childish 4chaners.

Back in May this user concern trolled about the Code of Conduct on the project but met push back. https://github.com/PolyMC/PolyMC/pull/601

Today he single-handedly killed the project. https://github.com/PolyMC/PolyMC/commit/ccf282593dcdbe189c99b81b8bc90cb203aed3ee

I don't know what this is but I'm going to go ahead and assume the whole project is useless and cringe is one of their goals is "reclaim from the leftoids"

Oh yea, Project is effectively dead now. all the other maintainers are organizing a new fork and telling people to charge back their open collective donations. the wider Minecraft modding community is already warning users away.

There is an Owner role. There can also be multiple of them. Problem is I'm pretty sure this user was there from the start as an owner they just hadn't gone mask off yet.

Unfortunately I have only heard unconfirmed rumors about the MultiMC Dev. the PolyMC page about the fork is still up though https://polymc.org/news/moving-on/

Mostly the MultiMC dev was just a jerk to the contributors who forked and made them want to leave

Wow, the polyMC devs sound comically entitled. If they acknowledge sabotaging the MultiMC AUR package, then why did they think they could continue to use the MultiMC metadata server? It sounds like assholes on both sides. It's weird to burn a bridge like that and then be shocked the person isn't keen to help you out.

And then when the guy says he'd not going to keep letting them use his bandwidth, they respond with ways he could host the server without paying for bandwidth. I cracked up.

The non-chud group has reorganized under the name PrismLauncher for anyone interested.

    https://github.com/PrismLauncher/PrismLauncher

This will definitely be my launcher of choice as I was a former PolyMC user over MultiMC due to its ability to still download Curseforge modpacks after Curseforge tried to close that functionality (and MultiMC complied with that request initially causing PolyMC's existence).

Thanks for linking, I've been trying to figure out what the replacement is. Nothing else really comes close to multimc and its forks.
