I love going on to r/collapse and letting the doomers know that China will likely be one of the few intact nations left standing once the climate apocalypse kicks in

Unfortunately, that won’t be possible. I’m sure China will do well compared to most other nations…but they won’t be able to combat climate change on their own. That just isn’t possible. Climate change will (and already has) impact everyone. It will destroy entire ecosystems and lead to a domino effects accelerating and accelerating till there is nothing left.

That would require a socialist world. Only that can curb carbon emissions. If that doesn’t happen, and China remains one of the few bastions of AES, we will see the deaths of hundreds of millions of people, the collapse of entire ecosystems etc. Not a lot China can do when their crops start failing and their water supplies vanish and entire cities start drowning.

to be fair, the South–North Water Transfer Project will ensure their access to water and sponge city urban planning will probably insulate them from floods to some extent

but yeah the ecological collapse might be too extreme for a single country to deal with

I remember days when the sun shone, and laughter could be heard from the tavern.

This seems like a hazard for water birds.
